Windshield cracked!!!
#16
Mine popped today too, I have < 2500 miles on the car, bought it in November. Found out that StateFarm will cover the replacement (am in FL) but will not cover cost of OEM glass only after market (bastards!). Need to figure out how much difference there is from one of the vendors.

Yea i didnt even know i had it since i knew the warranty didnt cover it. But i just happened to look through my paperwork for something the other day and found it and was suprised. My winshield has a bad scratch mark from the wiper blade right on my driver side and i didnt want to use my glass coverage. I work for an insurance company and if you abuse it they remove the coverage.

glass replacement
Insurance companies like to use the term like kind and quality for non OEM parts. You may still loose the battle, but I have won on body shop repairs by reminding the insurance company the car has to be returned to the pre-accident condition. It only had OEM parts so you expect it to remain that way. Not sure how well they will work on glass though. I have heard some non OEM glass does not fit as well as OEM glass does.

Nobody's said how much a G windshied is going for????
I had to replace my M35 windsheld last year...$795 with
a $500 deductable which was "chargable" to policy as
a claim. The cost was painful enough without the
insurance company also charging my record with a
claim, so I offered the windshied installer $500 cash
in hundred dollar bills.....voala...money talks.

Had mine repaired on Thursday, I claimed it with State Farm but with OEM glass but had to pay 400 out of pocket for the difference. The bill from the auto glass claimed the windshield was $758 but I wouldn't be surprised if they padded that a bit to make a few extra bucks. Considering how good of a job they did I didn't mind paying a little extra.

OEM glass will be around 800 but you can get the same manufacturer's glass, basically the same OEM glass, except it didn't go through Nissan/Infiniti. Price for that would be around 300-400.

interesting... can you elaborate where somebody could get one? it's too late for me but somebody else might find it useful.

Go through a body shop you trust, they probably outsource the glass install to a mobile glass guy. Mobile glass guy just does the job so they might not know who makes the Nissan or Infiniti glass but your experienced body shop should have a good idea. No need to get the glass with the Nissan stamp when you can get the same PPG glass.
Also, I know some insurance won't cover all the cost if you get a OEM glass because they know it goes through the dealer and it's more expensive. But they do cover all the cost if you get an aftermarket glass, even if the total cost is higher than that of OEM glass. Just found that out a few weeks ago.
