So I hit a deer with my g37
Well long story short i was coming home at around 6 pm. The street was a single lane in opposite directions. As im coming down the hill the guy going up the hill puts on his High beams (and leaves them on) and blinds my view to the left side. I could only see straight and to my right since i cant directly stare into the high beams. Just before hes about to pass me a deer pops infront of him (I guess he saw it and decided to blind me with his high beams). The run across his lane and i dont see it until the very last second on the corner of my eye. I turn a good amount right to try to avoid it and manage to escape with minimal damage.
The deer slammed into the driver's side doors and then bounced of the rear quarter panel(as in went flying down the side of my car). So i got dents on my door and right above the rear driver side wheel well (like baseball sized indent). There is cracked paint about 2 inches in length on the door and quarter panel.
This was probably a really easy deer hit considering so many things could have gone wrong.
My question is tho.. Should I contact insurance about this? Im not really sure about the amount of damage but I do not want my premium to go up over something like this. I could probably cover this out of my own pocket. But even if I do what do you guys recomend. Isnt this what insurance is for?

It depends on how old you are and if you had previous accidents or not. If this is your first time in a wreck or claim your premium shouldn't go up.
Also, post some pic of the damage.

This should be the comprehensive claim with comprehensive deductible. Your premium SHOULD not be increased with this type of claim. However, if you have high deductible, it might be best no to get the insurance involved.

need pix or it didn't happen
Anyways... yeah estimate first for sure... some insurance companies won't add to your insurance unless you claim more than once per X number of years etc... I'd check into that if the estimate comes out with a bit of a shock...
Did you keep the deer? mmmmm venison...

I hit a deer one when I was 18, it is one of life's wtf moments. Mind you this was in my audi a4 and the damage was only 500 dollars so I just payed it off myself.

Also if you call the insurance company and file this... it will go under "Accident" so when you go to sell your car you will get less. Thiis another reason why a lot of you don't call your insurance provider.
Personally if it was my car there would of been a cop on the scene with insurance rep.

I work for a major insurance company so ill throw my two cents in. Like others have said it is a comprehensive claim, so unless you already have a ton of those, it will not affect your rates. 99% of the time comp claims are not surchargeable, meaning your rates will not increase. The only question being 1. What is your deductible? and 2. will it cost less to fix then your deductible? IMO if the cost to fix it is more then that, than I would file a claim on it.

Hey, critter gore sells!
To be more serious, I'm glad the OP is okay and that it sounds like it wasn't too bad of a hit. I remember seeing the after effects of an older minivan after it plowed into a deer head on. Not like the thing was demolished, in fact the guy drove it a good 60 miles to get home, but it wasn't too pretty either even ignoring the bits of well..deer flesh and stuff in the front of the van.
