i took the highway to work heard a loud bang and my car was :(

I was driving to work today, after some idiot slightly scratched my car on the side so I was pissed and Cause of that I was late to a meeting. Took his info down and took off, I'm driving on the highway and I went over a slight bump and I heard what sounded like a dynamite blast and I practically lost all mechanical power. Steering and electrical worked, all dash light turned on but when I gave gas only rpms were going up and car was slowing down untill 20mph, and it just kept at a steady 20mph so I drove rest o way to work at 20mph. Then got off highway and had to drive a few blocks. When I went from stop to a roll it takes like 2 minutes to get to 5mph and there is the most horrific scraping noise that is coming from the rear wheels/differential area. and it only hits ~22mph max and all dash lights (abs, vdc, slip, low tire pressure, etc) are lit.

It seems like the clutch could be done but from a stand stop the car rolls fine but only how I specified, and it doesnt make sense for it to be blown since I was already in gear, driving. but anything is possible and I hope its not that. I think the differential cracked/slightly disconnected/broke.

I called Infiniti roadside and they came in 20 min scooped my car up, and later went to my dealer to pick up a brand new g37x loaner.

To potential buyers....
I had bubble in drivers seat issue. Had the "radio wont scroll through presets issue", had the "weird noise from exhaust", had the exhaust replaced and noise came back, had TPMS sensor die, and am tortured daily by the seatbelt scratching my neck.
Summary- Great service, nice sweet car, but costly (time wise and headache wise)

Anyone have any ideas whats wrong before the dealer calls me tomorrow to inform me of some super sad news?

I was going to say it sounds like a blown rear end. What mods do you have on the car?

There was a TSB for the rear end. I found out when I took my G into the dealership. Good thing a friend of mine was the service writer and knew about it

or.....as it turns out, cruising on the highway may cause you to blow your rear diff.

No way, i mean it shouldn't fail that easily but in your situation maybe the impact from the accident somehow played a role in yours failing. If mine were to fail by just driving hard i would be very disappointed and angry because im sure Infiniti would try to talk their way out of replacing it under warranty. Doesn't help that my car is modded either.

Your assumption makes sense and is plausible but the accident is just a scratch. Its just one cars paint on my car. No dent or anything.

My wheel was bent slightly which caused a bearing to go bad which led to tension on the axle, which resulted on a snapped rear axle.
Because there was damage to the wheel, we are not covering the damages through warranty.

Those were the words of Infiniti so I called my greedy friend Allstate.

Wow, why was the wheel bent slight? From the accident?

This sounds like a sticky situation, any updates? Infiniti has a pretty elaborate theory on how this happened from your own fault. I would be real careful to verify the truth behind their theory.

Not to sound like a jerk, but you're ranting at Infiniti because YOU flew over a speed bump which led to YOU breaking your diff? Never heard of a car that comes with warranty against that to be honest.

Good luck getting that resolved
