Rear License Plate ????

Got the plates from DMV today and while mounting the plate and infiniti frame I noticed the plate and or frame directly contacts the painted surface behind it as well as being quite unstable even with screws very snug. I can imagine the movement and abrasion @ highway speed-comments? ideas?

Mine's only 3 weeks old, and I don't remember putting the plate on that way on my G37x coupe, mine is a 2009. In my state the plates can be transfered over from car to car with a small fee, so I didn't have to wait for the DMV, but I still remember bolting them on. (I just went ahead and swapped them from my trade in to my new car, I guess I could have asked someone at the dealership to do it, but eh..not like I can't use a screwdriver. )

Go to lowes, buy some foam tape or weather stripper and line the surface where the plate touches the paint. Or you could just leave it because there always has to be a plate on the car so no one will see if it scratches the paint or not.
