owned by a pothole

i went over a pothole/crack about 2 feet wide(perpendicular to me) and 5inches long (parallel to me) on the highway on my mrr gt-5s.

can someone tell me if there is anything i can do? or do i have to just suck it up and buy a new rim? my parents were upset because of HOW the rim got damaged.
My dad said rims should crumble/crush.
but they shouldnt cracked like mine did, because if i was unaware of it and kept driving the crack would have made a full 360 and would have fell off with my tire.

heres a pic of the damage.

Ouch man. See if you can bring this up with the local government and see what they can do.

This happened to my friend once. The only thing you can do it go take a picture of it and the damage to your wheel. I think you have to contact the city about it to get compensation.

Yeah I run 275-35-19, that must have been a pretty hefty pothole.

Nothing you can do with that except buy a new one.

Similar thing happened to me with my Lexani's on the Belt pkwy.

About what your dad said, ive never seen a wheel crush/crumble, ive seen plenty crack like this though.

GL suing NY, IF you get anything, it wont be for like 2+ years.
