My first accident as a driver, I hate NYC buses.

I'm heading to school, Cruising my way there, A bus stop is on the right lane of me, two buses were sitting there, then one decides to move up, slowly creeping up with no signaling no nothing so i figure he's moving up, My passenger window is right across from the bus driver's side window, Once i decide to maneuver the right, he pulls out of his bus lane, slams into the quarter panel, the rear end fish-tailed slightly which left the car in a straight position facing the street.

Is there anything mechanical other than the exterior damage i should check upon?
Right now im waiting for the NYPD to process my report, then the insurance should take care of the situation i hope! Someone estimated me between $3000-$4000 Damage/labor.

(Note: that chunk of plastic you see came off the bus).

check the position of the rear wheel.. see if it's messed up or if anything got bent in the suspension.

Ouch... Get someone to put it on a lift and check suspension and divetrane components for damage or stress. Glad no one was hurt.

I don't know about NYC but you cannot win if you have an accident w/ buses in Pittsburgh. They have their own police (not city police) and insurance to fight with your insurance.

I have a relative who had an accident w/ a bus in Pittsburgh. The bus hit her car from behind and it's clearly not her fault but their own police report said it's her fault.

Ick, I hope it all turns out, I hope they don't try to screw you over. I sometimes miss living in a city..but hopefully it won't come out wrong if I say that stuff like this makes me glad I am in a small town too.

Um..at least you managed to get a part of the bus to fall off? *weak smile*.

Anyway, I do feel for you. I don't know what would come first if my G37 got hit by a bus, a berserk fit or crying like a wee child.
