THis is really terrible, but as long as people keep buying "used" rims off the back of shady vans etc, this will never stop. 5 different locking lugs FTW!

Ummmm.... new york, though known for auto theft is still way safer than NJ in that respect.. And in NY, they would be more likely to take the whole car! Hub caps and rims is so 70's and 80's NY.
We try to stay on top and ahead of the crime game in NY... lmao!

Sorry for your loss. I don't think my G will ever be going North to NY or NJ. That's crazy someone had to have seen some thing. Get a storage to park it in. I have one for my car until I get a house. Down here a 10' x 20' will work and is $129/ month. If you can afford the G then a storage shouldn't be much. Sorry

as terrible as this is at least it looks like they treated your car with some kind of respect.
there's a thread about a gtr whose wheels were stolen and the thugs only put one block on each side. needless to say the car tipped on its nose. with that said i think people who do this should be sent to jail for the rest of their lives.

I actually wouldn't mind that. My spot is right in front of my bedroom window. I have no clue how they were able to do that w/o any noise, even my damn dog didn't hear anything and he barks when he hears people walking by w/ their dogs...

It's a 2 second sprint from my front door to the car, next time, if I ever catch someone, I'm hip tossing someone on their head and heelhooking'em. bye bye knees.

Then you should do a Rock Bottom on them, followed by a People's Elbow.

you might want to try one of the many VIPER alarm systems, they even have one that would give a shock if the car is touched in any manner.I have no experience with any, but it might be worth a looksee.

I'd be leery of anything that shocked someone. I can just see the scenario now:

1) Moron thief comes up to a car to break into it and/or steal the wheels.

2) Moron thief touches car, gets a small shock.

3) Moron thief, despite trying to commit a crime, hires a lawyer. (not flaming lawyers here as an aside)

4) Moron thief sues, had jury with no common sense award damages just because moron thief got a jolt from a car he was trying to break into!

Okay, I'm being cynical here sure. But I guess with all due respect to the law, I've also seen some kind of silly judgements happen also.

Anyway, again to the OP my sympathies. With luck your insurance carrier will be quick to award a settlement and hopefully no other damage was done.
