I would still press charges. Even if the case comes back dismissed at least she will have to go through the hassle of defending herself.

Press charges. But be civilized, she obviously knows where you park and where you live. let your lawyer and insurance handle it.

The cops are being lazy. What you need to do is file a complaint with CCRB (civilian complaint review board) and shake **** up a little. Unfortunately you'll need to sue her though. Don't file an insurance claim but keep it on file incase you loose. Civil court will recover your cost plus court filing fees etc.

It appears this has turned from criminal matter to civil matter because there is no witness.
As someone else posted, she knows where you live and both of you will be running into once in while so I say let her insurance pay for the damage and forget about it.

Next time hopefully she will learn not to try to pull a fast one and do something like this again.

Common sense tells me that, if I was driving that civic and I hit your car, I was trying to hide this, I wouldn't have parked my car there for you to come and see it was me who did it. and also I would have cleaned up my car or fixed my car so you can't tell if it was due to my car.

To me I think what happened here was the driver of civic didn't even realized what she had done. Maybe too late at night or drunk or medication or whatever reason.

They don't take paint sample or any investigation on these type of "misdemeanor" crime, he said. I have like 10 pictures showing the way she parked and how her mark matches mine, but he said they don't prove anything. He said she could say the marks are from previous incidents. Since she already told my apt complex mgmt that she won't admit or deny it, I guess she'll tell the Hit & run dept the same thing... and I can't do SH*T about it!

p.s. anyone has an old car with those hard bumper and has "previous" scratches on them that I can borrow? I need it to ahhhh.... help out Karma.
The exact same thing happened to me when the door on old car was dinged by a car parked next to mine. I called the cops and showed them how the ding aligns perfectly with the door edge of the car parked next to me; however the owner of the other car denied any wrongdoing and the cop told me I can't do much without eye witnesses.

It seems you have a future in **** directing. Your new handle could be ucla screwin.

Sorry to hear that you're going through all this crap man. Some people just have no dignity or respect. I'm sure karma will catch up to her some day. Good luck with getting this mess sorted out.

Yup, the cops are being lazy.

My brothers own convenience stores and the average cop would do nothing when you give them the plate numbers of people who drive off w/o paying for gas. They'd say, "well there's no way to prove who was driving".

Finally they found a competent cop who said "you'd be surprised how fast they will confess when you threaten to impound their vehicle for being involved in a crime".

The trick is to find the right cop or get one of the lazy one's to do it without making it seem like you're telling them how to do their job.

Ya, the first cop that came to my apt seemed to want to help or at least believe the pictures were enough. Can I go to the police dept and request to speak with that officer directly? The one at the counter yesterday who took my report wasn't helpful at all.

You can, and you should.

Don't let your insurance pay for this.

CCRB (at least in NYC) has to by law investigate all complaints against all officers - and it stays on their records whether they're cleared or not. Its like saying Internal Affairs - **** gets done. My boy who is a sergeant put me on to that. Just go in and mention causally ‘CCRB’ to the Lieutenant on duty and that you’d like to file a grievance because you’re not being taken seriously. The Captain is now going to have that on his station all the way up to the district Major. You get the point. It just looks bad for all parties concerned.
