G37 Rear Ended Last Night

Got rear ended last night while puling off I4 at 301 in Tampa. I was stopped in the exit lane in a backed up exit. The lady behind me slammed into me going pretty fast. Saw her coming in my rear view and managed to get out about 2 or 3 f-bombs before impact. I knew nothing good could come from being the last car in an exit lane on a busy hwy so was looking in the rear view once in a while.

Need some feedback regarding your thoughts if the car is totalled. Both airbags deployed and I smacked into a truck (with hitch) in front of me, which messed up the front bumper, rad and not sure about engine mounts.

Very happy about the punch this car can take. Both my wife and i got bumped and bruised but all in all amazing we weren't badly injured. Photo's aren't great, need to get out to the tow lot to take some in day time.

dammn glad to see you and your wife are ok. If both airbag deployed then it should be total. Hopefully it is because driving a car repair from that won't ever be the same again

Wow. Happy to see you and your wife are ok. Car deff took a big hit. Should be totalled because the front air bags and rad support. Make sure you get your back checked. Small accident can mess up your back. Won't feel it now but give it a few days or weeks. Good luck with evrything.

What was she doing? ... i'd say about 60 or 65

I saw her coming so not sure how she could have not seen me in front of her, but would be speculating. She wasn't drunk.

I'm actually hoping its a write off, don't think I'd feel safe driving it if they fix it, if they do I'll take the loss on the sale and get a new one just to have the peace of mind that it's ready to take another hit if I should be so unlucky...

^^^That is exactly why everyone should have GAP insurance....so you don't have to take the loss. They pay off what you OWE, not what the car is worth (assuming you owe more than the depreciated value)....At least then you can start from scratch. Good luck with the settlement man, I'm thinking it's a total as well.

I financed less than half the car's value so not sure if GAP would have actually be any good in that case?

Nope, they would have given you the value of the car. GAP just kicks in if you total the car and you owe more than what the car's worth. They'll give you the value of the car, so hopefully you won't be too deep in the hole. Good luck with the insurance company.

Aww man.!!
Just the thought of having to see her coming at you at those speeds knowing there is NOTHING you can do is beyond scary.
Did ALL the airbags (Don't we have side curtains in the G) deploy..?
Once again you and your wife are very lucky.

mngo.
