Im going to weigh my options out, it may not go against my insurance if I claim this, id much rather have a brand new wheel...dammn I should have gotten the wheel/tire insurance through infiniti..lesson learned
I got me previous G35 wheel fixed at this local place called rim-pro and they did an awesome job, however my only concern is paint matching, these wheels aren't silver but a gunmetalish color and I want these to match exactly..
The paint is hard to match. Ask your dealer who they use for wheel repair.
People keep saying the paint is hard to match which I don't understand. 1) no, it isn't. That's what wheel refinishers do. 2) they are going to refinish the entire wheel so there won't be an issue of it being "two toned" 3) if it is a tiny shade off from the OE color, the only possible way you could notice it is to take off one of the other wheels and put them next to each other and compare them. The wheels sit 7 feet apart from each other when on the car, how will you detect any tiny shade difference between the 2 of them?
There's no way you can tell that by looking at a photo. To me I can see it's just the faces if te spokes that are scraped since he swiped a curb and didn't hit it. I can't say for sure either because I don't have the actual wheel to look at. Besides, even a pretty bad looking bend can be fixed to look and ride like new. I know because I had a bent wheel that looked bad and had it fixed for $135.
Sorry. I read this really quickly. I thought he ran into the curb from the side (happened to me). I brought it to 3 different rim repair shops (including the best - Wheel Collision in PA) and they all said it can't be fixed.
Hopefully those are just cosmetic. The paint is 3 stage process so yes, it is pretty hard to match. Not impossible, be really hard. Most refinishes will look a teeny bit brighter.
yea i'll weight my options out over the winter, but for now im getting the car re-aligned since the whole steering is outa whack!! i may go the route of getting all 4 wheels powder coated in the winter in a darker hyper gunmetal color..we shall see..
