Door handle button not working

Door handle button not working
when I try and lock the doors after parking I hit the button and nothing happens. happened more than once in some cases 5 or 6 times. Most of the time it works fine, but periodically it will do this. I'm starting to think maybe the key fob battery needs to be changed.

If he left the key fob inside the car and pushed the button, there would be the long sequence of beeps indicating that.
Maybe faulty wiring to the door button? Have you experienced the same thing on the passenger's side too? Or maybe you could try using your key fob only to lock the car and see if that ever fails (if it does, bad key fob; if not, then could be the door)?

I'm not an idiot, the key was in my pocket everytime. It cant be the wiring because it's worked this WHOLLLLE time and just recently started doing it. Some may say the fob is too far but if I'm close enough to hit the button on the door, than the key should be close enough as well. Dont you think??

My guess is the situation is the same as the instructions in the manual that indicate you should not hold the key in your hand when accessing the button as the system isn't sure if the key is in the car or not. Being in your pocket, it is likely too close and similar to being in your hand thereby confusing the sensors. This would also explain the intermittent nature of the problem.
I always use the key fob to lock the car as I'm walking away and just listen for the beep for confirmation. Never had any issues this way.

-When the FOB battery is low the car lats you know at about 75% on the display every time you start the car.
-If you have your spare FOB in the car or trunk it will cause strange things like this.
-If neither of the above applies to you I would take the car and both FOB's to the dealer for a check.
99% of the time I leave the FOB in my pocket and just use the button on the door & I've never had a problem; however, the car began showing my FOB battery is getting low; this started a few days ago so I need to replace th battery soon.

I had this happen on my 2011 G37 sedan. It was because the button had simply warn out form use. I could not find the button sold anywhere, but I did notice the 2010-2013 Nissan rogue handle sold on Amazon () had a very similar button but a different plug. I bought the rogue handle, removed the button and spliced the button onto my plug. After reinstalling the handle, everything worked.. This fix cost me $30 and a little time vs the $500-$600 for the entire handle at the dealer..

Thank You Jmart! I did as you suggested, ordered the part you recommended, and worked like a charm! I suspected it was the button for over a year now, but wasn't sure what compatibile button options there was. Then paying $60+ for a used g37 door handle seemed to pricey for a hunch, but $30 was worth the risk for me.
