$27,400 in damage - totaled?
Hey all - I posted up this thread previously but deleted it until I got my insurance estimate since I knew there wasn't really a way to gauge damage with dark pictures.
Anyway, the car is a 2008 G37S 6MT with premium, tech, nav, spoiler with 8300 miles. I know there has to be 75-80% in damage of the car's actual cash value/market value in order to be deemed a total loss.
So is $27,400 enough damage to be considered totaled? In other words, is my car's market value $34,250 or more? I paid $38,500 for it. MSRP was $44,500.

your car likely has LESS market value that what you need so yes, likely they'll total it out....and plus, I wouldn't want someone fixing THAT much damage. Get a settlement and head back to Infiniti for a 2009 on sale

If for some reason they refuse to total it, see if you can find a WreckCheck shop in your neighborhood. Many years ago, my wife's Subaru Outback was in a rollover (nobody hurt thankfully). The insurance company refused to total it out, saying the initial estimate was only 50% of total value. With the stuff the body shop found, it was quite a bit higher. But even then the insurance company only wanted to repair it.
Well the repair had defects, so I took it to WreckCheck for about $500, which then found many other defects that I could not initially see. WreckCheck then met with me and a senior insurance adjuster, who verified the additional damage claims that WreckCheck made. My car was then totaled, with the result that the insurance company essentially paid 150% of the car's value after everything was done.
I'm not affiliated with WreckCheck in any way.

Thanks for the input, all. I just called my ins. co and they have the market value set at $34,900. That's about 79% in damage costs. Edmunds TMV put the car at 33k.
I should hear back on Tuesday regarding the decision. I have gap ins. so I'm not worried about anything financially.
