i am going to say he was ticketed because even though he was cut of, he caused the accident by trying to avoid an accident...

Sorry to hear that horror story man.

That car in near totaled with that insurance repair cost. IMO I would sell that car ASAP once fixed. Not one day later. After that bad of an accident you'll have issues.

I have to argue it isnt as easy as other cars.... I thought for sure my car would be totaled. It had a 5pg list of parts needing replacement. The accident wasnt my fault because I wasnt in the car as well. They will always find the cheaper route. For our cars, we also kindof pay for a name which is in the price. Alot of the G37 materails are cheap *** crap that you see on a economy cars. Now the G35 may have different parts, but when my car was in a front end collison a year ago, my bill was only 5k. The front bumber and fender was like 800 bucks I think.

Damn, your insurance is seriously undercutting. I had an accident in my G35. Hood, bumper, passenger fender, core support, 1 rim and paint. Damages was 15k. They totaled my car out.

I think thats a different parts line or something, because 2 different body shops did my car. I had the same damaged parts for 2 different incidents, and the bumper and fender were 800$. The fender I know for sure is only like 250-300$. This is not counting paint. Im just saying, for the 3 incidents for my car, the parts were not the expensive part, it was the work. 15k for a g35 is a good percentage of the cars value. So its easier to total it out. 15k for a g37 is like 50% of its market value

I guess it depends on the insurance. But 50% is a total with USAA. When it gets to be that much damage you want it to be a total anyways. Your value is signifiganly deminished and no matter how good the shop it the car will never be right. Slight paint mismatches and misalignments.

Under Florida law the one at fault always has to be cited.. In this case apparently their is a phantom vehicle that cut him off... If there's witnesses that saw, he should be fine.

My insurance is Allstate so they probably are undercutting me. The cop est. the damages on the site at 12k but after the body shop looked at it they est. 17,200. The chasis and engine took no damage from the accident, and yes i was cited as i avoided an accident to cause one but there was a witness so i should be good.

Very glad to hear you're okay. Agree with everyone, though- you should really talk with insurance guy and see if they can claim it totaled. I wrecked by g37x 2 weeks after buying it (guy made left turn in front of me and I T-boned). Insurance called it a total and wrote me a check (actually for a little more $$ than I paid for it originally!). Went over to dealer and grabbed a new one....
Most important thing is that you're okay!

Damages to mine were in excess of 28k... I think the body shop just stopped there.

That's awesome. Did you have gap insurance or did you pay cash for your car? Just curious.
