New Tint on Blue Slate (and more...pics aplenty)

Well I have had my lady for a few weeks now and I have done the initial mods that I feel every new car should have...window tint and a clear bra! I also installed the KP Tech nav stuff which I feel should also be standard from Infiniti (it's retarded that my wife or kids can't dial a number or search for a destination while I'm driving).

Anyways, I went with a metallic tint that I think is perfect. I was apprehensive about it at first, but I'm glad I went for it! I feel it goes with the Blue Slate much better than the regular dark smoke. And to make it even better, it makes things sooooooo much cooler inside the car (even compaired to my dark tint which I had on my old Bimmer that I traded in to get my G37). And no...it does not degrade my cell, FM, XM, or GPS signals at all.

So I now have FL legal tint on the sides and rear. The tint is called HP Quantum 28 (sides) and HP Quantum 19 (rear) made by Solargard (see their website details here).

Considering how disappointed I was with my last tint, I am extremely happy/impressed with this tint! Of course it helps that my installer did a great job too (did a great job with the clear bra too)!

Here was the newborn without any tint:

Here it is with the tint on a very sunny day:

The metallic tint doesn't look metallic from different angles:

This is my fav pic...can't even see the clear bra either:

Here it is stock (from the side):

Here is the side with the tint...notice how you can still see through it:

The other side stock:

The other side tinted with direct sunlight...notice how much of the sun rays that it reflects:

Stock Rear 3/4 view:

Tinted rear 3/4 view (the rear window has a darker tint):

Stock rear view:

Tinted rear view in much brighter sunlight:

I am also in the middle of installing the Escort 9500ci which you can see in some of the pics. You can see the laser sensors already installed in the lower front grill and the radar sensor is just under the Infiniti logo in the center grill (they are not hooked up yet).

Next mods will be some lighting upgrades (6000K exteriors and LED interiors), audio upgrades (still deciding on the amps and a sound processor), Injen CAI, and some Eibach springs and camber kits. I will also upgrade my rims (I love the Forgestar F-14 rims )...but that'll have to wait until next year. Besides, I kind of like the stock sport rims (for now). Then, when the warranty is up...Twin Turbo time!!!!!!

Enjoy the pics!!! I hope they might help another Blue Slater on what tint to get.

I concur, I love the way it makes it real hard to notice the B pillar and just makes it look all black

lol, yes it's 28% on the sides. I was originally going to go with 20% (apparently our sunroofs are about 20% if people want a reference), but in combination with the reflective properties, I would have definitely been issued a fix-it ticket around here. It's hard to see in, even during direct sunlight (as you can see). And it only gets harder as the sun goes down.

I took the pics at 2pm yesterday, so it was very bright out. When the sun is lower, it is much harder for people to see in.

lol, yeah, I want to remove that sticker, I just haven't gotten around to it. at least it's a subtle sticker. Nice guys that gave me a good deal too. I had to get my 6MT blue slate shipped in from Maryland...that wait sucked!!! I was very torn between BS or PG...both awesome colors, but they located the BS first.
