Garage door owned my G

Whats up fellas, I dont post here much but I really need some advice on what to do...Last night, right before I was about to head home, I decided to stop by my cuz's place to kill some time. This turned out to be a horrible decision...

I was entering the garage of the apartment building like I always do and waited for the door to fully open. Next thing I know, as I'm entering I hear a huge bang and come to realize that the garage door just completely did a number on my G.
When i come out to see the damage, my whole roof is completely scratched up and actually bent inward from the impact on the antenna. The stupid door even managed to leave a long deep scratch on my trunk and little scratches on my spoiler.

Im so pissed right now because I've only been in my car for a little over a month and now I have to deal with this headache. I tried to file a police report last night but couldn't because i was told this was a civil matter and needed to get in contact with the owner of the building. For those of you familiar with the law, is the owner responsible for these damages, do i go through my insurance to get this taken care of?

I'll post pic's in a few...

the white paint + my ****y camera dont really show the damage through the pics too much...

That maybe, but you still have to document what happened.

Even if it goes thruogh the building owners insurance, you will need to prove what happened(I would take photos & try to go back n see if maybe there are paint marks on the door itself.)

Because if you end up going through your policy that may end up as a chargeable incident( It depends on what state you live In its $1,000.00 & up worth of damages caused by you where I live)

Good Luck with the repairs.

You may want to consider to have a body shop make an estimate, this way you have a better idea of how much it it will possibly cost.

Sucks that happend to you.

LOL at the video. That's funny but not when it happens to you I guess.
Hope you don't have too much trouble getting them to fix it. Those pics made me cringe.

Soory I didn't see the pics (om viewing site on my phone).just contact the builing owner and tell them you want to file a claim with their ins.co. Maybe they will just pay for it,since if they put through insurance theyget clipped anyway.good luck with getting it fixed.at least you know how and what caused it.

The information you were given is accurate. The damage was not caused by a motor vehicle accident so a police accident report cannot be taken and this is not a crime so a complaint report cannot be taken either. Take some good photos, get an estimate and take it to the owner of the building. If they dont want to take care of it head to small claims court.
