Can you post pics? I've thought about buying the kit as well.

Yeah- I'll go down to my garage and get some pictures of it and post up shortly.

I had the kit installed at the dealership, (because they pissed me off about some stuff and I got the kit and install plus a bunch of other stuff for free) but have been told that its very easy to install.

Thanks. Appreciate it. I've seen the instructions. They look relatively easy to install.

Yeah, I love the little light up there and the way it lights up the center dash and console. Definitely adds a nice touch. My dad has the same thing in his CR-V, but blue.

what color is the light on the ambient lighting kit?

Turn off your headlights
I leave my headlight combination switch to "Auto" and aside from the awesome ambient light it provides at night I use it to see if my headlights are on when it is just dark enough outside for the lights to turn on but light enough to not see my headlights.

Well, even though it's on the right side it actually points to the middle of the dash where all the controls are. My friend's e90 has ambient lighting everywhere but it's ORANGE . 1 white light > 4 orange lights

He didn't trade... the answer is hidden in the post before:

I assumed the light was positioned to light of the gear pattern on the shifter, that seems exactly where it is aimed

I just installed the ambient lighting kit for the footwells under the dash. Relatively easy install even though there are about 24 typos (for instance in the "Tools needed" list of the instructions: "Prastic Prybar"....instead of Plastic Prybar.....silly Japanese).

The kit was pretty straightforward. Get the kit BlackJack!!!.....I took my time so I didn't F-up my interior pieces and took my time, and it took a little over an hour and a half. I could do it MUCH faster now, but like I said, I wanted to go slow. You'll need a 3mm drill bit and a 10-10.3mm drill bit to drill the holes in the plastic parts from the dash. Other than that, it's a very very classy nice touch for the interior at night. Highly recommended.
