Car sounds like a helicopter??? Super loud belt noise. Help - Video Added.
I have a 2008 G37 Automatic that once in a while sounds like a helicopter. I have had the car about a year and a half and its has 16000 miles and fully maintained and I rarely go over 75 living here in So Cal.
I have taken the car to the dealership several time but they always just say we can not recreate the sound.
I have not figured out any pattern of this sound but it sounds like a old tracker and you can hear a loud belt going around and a squeegeeing noise.
They mentioned they did have some issues with few G37s with a belt but my serial number was not part of this.
I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get this fixed by the dealership and to see if any one out there have had a similar issue.
Thanks for any input you can provide.
Here is a Video:

I would like to know about this too because I have the same problem occuring with my G. Sometimes it occurs after I've been driving for a while and sometimes it does it with short distance drives.

Look at this thread and follow the youtube link. if that is what you are hearing than there is a TSB out there. You need to get ester oil additive....

Sounds like the VVEL Actuator TSB.
Take it to the dealer and get it fixed man. Show them the vid before they say they can't replicate it.
Oh, and it sounds more like a Huey then an Apache

Maan ur car is transforming! did it happen after the transformers movie? lol
here is a good solution, revv the engine like a maniac and i guarantee you that the sound will pop up for sure. Its either that or ur engine will pop up and in both cases u r the winner since they will replace the engine under warrantee lol

I have the same exact noise. It's the VVEL bank 2 actuator. They have the TSB on it.
See Dr. Jones' post above.
Just print out the TSB and give it to the dealer when you bring her in. I had them work on mine, got rid of it completely for a few weeks but although I still hear it, it's not as much as before.
One thing I notice though is I hear it more when the car is running hot.

There is no doubt.
That noise is the best recording of the VVEL bank 2 actuator noise addressed by the TSB.
Hey mods, perhaps you could sticky this with an appropriate thread name?
