Driving without key fob?

Driving without key fob?
I started my car today and put the key back in the house. Although the info. center said "no key", the car still went into reverse and forward back into the driveway. How far can the car be driven without the key fob?

Not to hijack the thread, but what happens if you press the push start button while driving? Does the engine shut off right away, or do you have to hold the button for a few seconds before the engine shuts of?

I used to be a Valet and occasionally still do it but this used to happen a lot. People would just go inside with their key and when it came time to get their car we'd have to ask for it. So yeah it'll go forever until you shut it off.

I actually did press the push start button once when I was coming up my drive way and the car didnt turn off. I was going only like 10mph.

Do not operate the push-button ignition switch while driving the vehicle except in an emergency. (The engine will stop when the ignition switch is pushed 3 consecutive times or the ignition switch is pushed and held for more than 2 seconds.) If the engine stops while the vehicle is being driven, this could lead to a crash and serious injury.
Pushing it once won't do anything (less than 2 seconds) but it shouldn't be done.

I don’t understand your comment. Infiniti HAS done something about it, i.e., making sure the engine doesn’t stop suddenly without the fob by making it a bit hard to do so via requiring the ignition switch being pushed 3 consecutive times or held for more than 2 seconds. Both would be hard to do accidentally. But it does allow the engine to be switched off on purpose. Sounds like a good solution to me.

I don't understand what the hell you are talking about. Please explain to me how a person can press the start button 3 times consecutively or press and hold it >2 seconds accidentally while they are driving?
