new G37S: Front license plate or not?

Hi Everyone,

I'm about to pick up my G37S coupe and am wondering if I should request the dealer not install the front license plate. I'm in California and it's not that uncommon up here for people to get cited for it. I've also did a search on the forums and really didn't see a permanent solution, the stillen being a temporary quick fix. Is it worth the hassle or should I just let the dealer attach it. Thanks!

how is the stillen a temporary quick fix? it gets the job done without drilling the bumper and you can remove it when you go to shows and meets.

If they haven't already tell the NOT TO drill the bumper! I live in SoCal and mine came pre-drilled and I was pissed..

No!

I am california. No front license plate for me. If I get cited. I will just attach temporarily and have them sign-off. Then remove it again.

front license plate just for them to take a snapshot of you at the red lights..

Don't have them install... There are a few other options out there.

I recommend getting the stillen one. I told my dealer to hold the drill and drove for a couple months than got cited in Canoga Park. Its just a dumb process you have to go through, The stillen goes into your tow hitch and if your showing off your ride, just remove it.

Told the dealer not to drill mine either when I picked up my G37 last night. In my experience, what works pretty well is to keep a plate in the glove compartment and to pull it out and place it on the dash when being pulled over.

Maybe if I drove an econobox I wouldn't care for a front plate.

But on a sexy G37... no front plate PLEASE!

I've been driving around without one since november - no issues yet. I'll be tinting my windows soon... who knows that may attract more attention.

Tell them not to

I just zipped tied the license plate bracket to the front vent and screwed the plate into the bracket. No drilling of the bumper required. Of course this is just a temp fix for me till I install my retractable show-n-go
