I had this on my car when I was in CO but you need to put it on the bottom bumper with a spring hing that folds back when wind hits it. That way it's AUTOMATIC. While your moving you have no plate, once stopped it springs up. They sell these or at least use to.

As for the question about when I retract it... I drive with it retracted all the time. The reason I have this installed is for the novelty at shows and also to be able to put up in the event I get pulled over for it. Cops around here love cool stuff like this, so they would likely get a kick out of it anyway.
I don't see how that will work on a stock bumper, not enough room is there?

damn that is AWESOME! Too bad I have pre-drilled holes in bumper, non sport bumper and 0 knowledge of wiring anything otherwise I'd do this!
