Question about G37's VDC compared to G35

I have an 07 G35 sport fully loaded automatic. I hate it when the VDC kicks in because it cuts like 80% of the power and is very annoying. I am about to buy a 09 G37s and was wondering if it's VDC works any better in terms of not cutting so much power and resuming power and reducing wheel spin faster. What I'm asking if is there a new system running the VDC making it smarter. Thanks

The few times I've had the VDC light come on, my car was still accelerating but wasn't squealing the tires. So going by what you said the G35 does, the answer would be yes, the G37 VDC is smarter. I've also noticed that when you try to start moving again after stopping at a stop sign on a hill on a dirt road and your tires are spinning but you're not going anywhere, the "Slipping" (if I remember correctly) light will come on but the VDC won't stop you from spinning. That's what I've experience so far. What has everybody else seen/done?

You do realize that you can switch it off with a button if its annoying that much. Only time I'd be concerned about losing 80% power instants is when I'm driving spirited which is why I switch it off.

Yeah, that's what I do when I want to have a little fun. Push the little button and the let the good times roll

Kay: Oh, the red button there kid, don't ever, ever touch the red button!
<hr width="30%"> Kay: Do you remember the little red button?
Jay: Yeah...
Kay: Push the little red button.
Kay: And you may want to put on a seatbelt.
Jay: Kay! Kayyyyy!
Jay: Aw sh*t. Aw damn.

lol funny that you said that but I was just driving home carving up the streets with the VDC off and had a blast. The problem with VDC off is I'm used to it catching my slip, so if it was off it could possibly end up bad.

VDC in the G37 was programmed to be less intrusive than in the G35. VDC in the G37 allows you to still play a bit. There was an article that highlited the differences in one of the car mags.

If the VDC is cutting power, then you're driving beyond the limit of the car. The 07+ sedan and 08+ coupe (as well as FX and EX) allows for a bit of slip angle before kicking in to correct you.

Remember, the car DOES have a lot of power, and can spin the tires on command if VDC is off, even at speed, with an automatic. VDC off, if you're going 45, and punch it, you will spin your tires.

07+ sedan and 08+ coupe VDC is a HUGE improvement over the 1st gen VDC

not true, G35 VDC would kick in even if you were going straight and you broken you tires loose a little. which sucks ***.

I had a 6pd G35 and now own a 6pd G37 and I exactly know what you're talking about. VDC is not as annoying anymore.

^ +1. I now keep VDC on most of the time, even during fun driving. VDC in my G35 sucked.. it would abruptly cut power and your whole body would lurch forward.

I said slip angle, not traction loss.

Keeping traction gives you better acceleration vs spinning them.

Kinetic friction vs static friction.

not true, best launches mean slipping your tires a bit as you launch. Do you drive an auto? Anyways, you're answering a different question.

and if youre going to throw physic 101 stuff out, you mind as well example that kinetic friction resistance is lower than static friction, translating into more force being applied at the wheels, meaning better accel.

All depends what your doing. I find the VDC in the 37 a lot more playful then my 35 It was so bad that the first thing I did when I got in was turn it off.
