About to get the G37, but do I really have to break it in?
#31
For break in on my new G37, I varied the rpms and kept it under 5kish rpms for the first 500 miles. I then changed the oil to Ester oil, put an Intake on it and started driving it hard. IMO, 500 miles is plenty of break in on a new vehicle. My salesman told me I didn't have to break it in, but 500 miles was PLENTY. He also told me that on 9 out of 10 test drives, the car being driven is redlined. So, if you car has 20 miles on it when you bought it, you can be assured it was redlined a time or two.

When I was buying the car, I asked the dealer, "Do I have to break it in." He looked at me laughed and gave me a face which went a little like this, "you just bought a G37,drive the **** out of it until your lease is up from the moment you drive out of here".
