Terrible gas mpg?

My coupe has 4k miles now. I rarely drive it hard, just casual daily driving. I noticed bad mileage since I bought it so recently I reset the trip when I filled the tank and I got ~ 250mi from full to empty. Dash says 16.7MPG with 19MPH avg. Is this normal for everyone? I hope this will get better because I expected around 20mpg with local/highway mixed.

I have 23mpg avg. I drive 70% on freeway......
usually I get 17-18 MPG avg on City drive....

I think I get good MPG on mine compare to my previous cars.......

and also I think 16.7 MPG with 19MPH avg is normal......

Sounds pretty normal to me for mixed driving. You may need to really try hard to brake lightly and barely tap on the gas when accelerating. It's tough with these cars to do that even if you think you're not driving hard.

how in the world did you get 400mi per tank. The way im driving is like grandpa, like 20% throttle from stop and brake very lightly. I drive 65mph on highway and only 250mi per tank. what gives??

These cars will coast for a ridiculously long time. Ive found a way to help out on my MPG is to let it coast out of gear as much as possible. That is, if it's possible at least.

On downhills and coming up to red lights/stop signs, kick that clutch pedal in and let 'er coast to a stop. If your driving an auto, I dunno man.

400 miles per tank is 20 mpg.
250 miles per tank is 12.5 mpg.

Might want have Doctor examine your right foot if there's lead growing on it

yeah unfortunately I have the g37x 7AT. living in the east coast I'm better off with AWD and fearing for my life during the winters. I know you method works because I used to have the eclipse gsx awd and I coast alot too. I had very good mpg on it. too bad it isn't the case here.

I don't think the OP is extrapolating to a full tank maybe? maybe he drives to 1/4 tank left and fills it up.

The City MPG is low on our cars since the engines are V6's with a fairly large displacement. But our tranny saves us on the highway with the higher overdrive. 5AT do pretty well on Highway MPG, and the 7AT is even better getting 2-3 MPG better.

the car holds a reserve of about 2-3 gallons after you go on E. I get about 350 to the tank/ 17mpg and I drive her hard most of the time, meaning, I never coast, and stop quickly, speed up quickly, and almost always weave in/out of traffic and speed.

Same same ^ I have the 6MT and do 80% highway, I average somewhere around 23mpg and can get over 400 miles to a tank, and by tank I don't even mean the warning light comes on. If I waited til true empty I could probably get close to 500 if I really wanted. Even last summer when I first got my G and was doing 100% city driving, and spirited city driving because it was new, I averaged 19mpg and could get well over 250 miles to a tank.
