I have so many stories about this crap it's not even funny. Someday I'm going to type them all out and write a book.

200 miles with no oil = fail.

Crazy story. +1 on why there was no CEL or that oil MIN indicator lights turning on.

No I really have to check my oil after I get my car serviced.

ALWAYS check your oil after you get serviced. ALWAYS check you wheels after you've had service. These are basics and even though you are paying "professionals" to work on your car, you should check after them. You should be checking your oil levels at least twice a week anyway. Retorque lugs nuts after 50 miles.

Sorry this had to happen to a member, but maybe it will reinforce the things some of our dads taught us as youngsters and remind us to stay vigilant. I've lapsed at times, but this will help me to never forget again.

Agreed. I also back out of the garage the next morning and check for oil on the floor. VW and Nissan dealers have both failed to get the drain plug back in "correctly".

This is actually not a rare thing. I used to change oil and tires at Wally World back in the day and we had it happen a couple times at our shop, not me personally though, I have more sense than that, lol. It happens at other stores and some dealers, too cause we always hear about everyone else's screw-ups. You'd be surprised how often it happens because idiot people get rushed and forget to go through the checklist.
