Thinking about trading my 2008 G37S....

for either the 2009 G37S 7AT, or the G37x. Pretty much the same pricing on both, just thought the 7AT might be better than the 5AT I currently have (especially since I do a lot of highway driving). Is the 7AT that much better? Also, since I live in NYC, thought it might be nice to have the x, but the Sport looks so damn nice...... what are your thoughts?

I have the X, seriously, I don't think the 7AT makes a huge diff, and is probably not worth it if you're gonna lose $ on the trade. The X is nice for winter for sure though, but you've obviously been doing fine w/o it. I mean, if you have some winter rims, you're fine.

Why are you trading it in? Is it that you don't like the manual? You're losing so much money - especially with us in a recession. You better think twice before doing this.

he has an automatic not manual. I dont think its worth it just for the 7at. If they upped the HP to 350 then id say do it.

I just hear about all of the good things about the 7AT over the 5AT. I'm going to keep this car for a while, so if there is a major difference between the 2, I would obviously want to get the 7AT. Also, was contemplating the X over the Sport. If I lose too much, I definitely wouldn't do it.

I can't imagine the 7AT being THAT much better than the 5AT. Actually, the 5AT has been proven to be bulletproof. Don't trade because of the tranny.

How about that plus the paint thing too? Also, not just considering the tranny, also considering going from the sport to the X.

Might be worth it to wait for the 2010MY specs b4 making a decision. We're already half-way througn 2009MY. Kind of a longshot for 2010 but there might be direct injection technology. Better mpg + power. And, who knows what else.

You must have an adjustable rate interest only mortgage on your house, right?

In this economy, the number of people still willing to just throw money down the drain really suprises me.

You will LOSE a substantial amount - probable close to 10K in value. You have got to be kidding me, you're contemplating that type of money loss over an unproven 7AT transmission and self-healing paint that has yet to prove itself in terms of swirl minimization??

If there was a model change, I could see some logic in trading in your 1 year old car - but for your financial's sake - IT'S THE SAME CAR!

Find something else to spend your money on.

I say keep yours until the 2010 comes out, because they may do the mid-cycle refresh and give it the 350 hp and direct injection that is going into the M by then. So I would just wait.

probably not worth it. low gearing is a little quicker in the 7at and top 2 gears are mostly overdrive gears. wait a year or 2 for more upgrades to be worth it.
