'handbrake' placement

'handbrake' placement
so, the G37 is a sports car. Why the hell is the handbrake a footbrake? (It's located for foot, isnt a handbrake at all...)
I'm not sure if the 6MT is like this as well, but this is something I found very odd, and was curious what others think

the 6MT is an actual handbrake, the 5AT/7AT is a footbrake i believe...

My question is why have it a footbrake and not a nice handbrake?

the g is gt car, not a sports car. if it was a sports car, most people would rag on you for getting an auto.
