Self healing clear coat question...
#17
First off I would try a clay bar. These work miracles and I've seen them remove scratches I thought wouldnt even begin to budge. Make sure you use a lubricate with the bar, or else you'll create a mess. If that doesnt work, hit it with some ultra fine sand paper (2000+), cut it with cutting compound, then a buffing compound, and finish with a polish. Be sure to wet sand with the sand paper and tread lightly. The car has 2 coats of clear and is plenty deep enough to be sanded, but the last thing you want to do is get into the base coat.

According to Nissan, fingernail scratches are repaired by the self-healing coat. They mention nothing about swirls. However, without seeing pics, it's nearly impossible to answer this question. Leave the vehicle in the sun and let the resin do its thang!!!

Those fingernail scratches are definitely a culprit on my car. I have a few on my driver's side, but the passenger's side I notice my damn girlfriend or other ppl who ride my car aren't really careful when opening the door.

What does anyone recommend for the 2009 G37? Our car has the self-healing clearcoat. I wonder if there is something I should apply after I wash the car.
The dealer's put something on to bring out more shine but not sold at retail. Not sure if they put it on self-healing.
Should I even put anything over the self-healing clear coat or is this too new to know yet?
Tks!
