G37S is for the purist and enthusiast.(Weekend track warriors)
It comes down to preference sporty vs luxury.
Bottom line is IT'S A G37 minor differences.
Unlike 328/335 completely different animal.
But I love my G37S

I see a non S by my gym all the time. I've always had the personal preference that I'd rather have the top of the model then the lowest of the next class. For example. If I could only afford either a G37s 6mt or a 328i for an equivalent price, then I'd go for the G.
If I could afford either a cobalt SS or a base v6 camaro, I'd probably go for the cobalt SS.
I know it's goofy, but that's just me.
The only exceptions would be a Evo GSR or a Corvette LS3 for me.

Well for me I never hated on anyone that didn't have a S emblem. I just asked them why they didn't get the sports package and 90% of the time they didn't know what the sport package was about. After I tell them they are like WTF you get better suspension.

Presuming you are OK with getting a 6MT, it would be foolish to get a base for $36k when you can get a base 6MT w/sport with the better brakes, wheels, steering ratio, etc for just about $1k'ish more! The only reason to choose the base is if you require the Auto and want the cheaper car. The wheels alone can cost like 2k on the "S" so if the "S" alone is only about $1k more on the car it's good value.

I think the "S" is just fine for daily driving assuming OK weather and good roads. Besides how is "S" vs. non "S" a matter of luxury? I suppose the non "S" may have a slightly softer, less harsh ride over bumps - but that's about the only difference in luxury right? Bigger better brakes, bigger nicer wheels, and a better steering ratio don't really adversely affect luxury - it just adds performance.

Tomorrow morning I am going to put my rapidly approaching 50 year old azz along with my lovely wife and my 2 Weiner dogs in to my "S" and take a nice little 900 mile ride to Seattle!
Regardless of which car we have, Its all about the ride! ...............Motor On!
