Help! Engine trouble already???

Ok so its barely been a week since i picked up my 08 G37S. After only 250 miles or so it seems like i have a problem. Today while i was driving home from school the Service engine soon notice popped up on my dash. Anybody experience anything like this before?

My FX35 used to give this problem alot but it ended up being the gas cap. However i checked this and the car still gives me the maintnence alert. Any ideas?

^+1. There's too many things that a SES light can come from. It could be as little as something loose.

flip through your options under the maintainence screen and most likely sometimething could have been programed for the wrong mileage...

Mine still does it, I click my gas cap 20 times literally, but i still get the problem. If they don't fix it properly by the next time it goes off, I'm going to start threatening Lemon Law as they can't seem to fix this the last 3 times it's been in. Maybe that will get their attention.

Yep any time the SES comes on repeatedly after service lemon law applies.

Hahaa i know a few people who've taken advantage of that by just molesting their car until it comes on

Yep, it can be the moon isn't aligned correctly and the your not crossing your pinkie fingers when you press start. lol

Take it to the dealer, let them handle it (get ur loaner) and give us an update!

I had a problem that another member from this forum had... kept hearing a weird noise. I kept hearing kill! kill! kill! but after I turned off the car, I kept hearing the voice so I think it was something else........

^ lmaooo hmm sounds like a real dilema there. You should get that checked haha

So i just got home from the dealer and the guy said it probably WAS the gast cap but he said itll take at least 3-4 days of driving to know for sure just like it took 3-4 days after the fillup to turn the light on. If its not gone by friday ill take it back

I seriously doubt its "engine" trouble in the mechanical sense. Its probably a sensor or something. If it was a serious problem the light should flash repeatedly. Otherwise its probalby an emissions issue or a gas cap. BTW, i know you checked the gas cap, but even if for some reason it was a little loose this could throw a code, and if you read your manual it will tell you may need to start your car several time before the code clears. Happened to me. Reguardless of what it is don't unplug your battery to reset it, take it to the dealer to get a proper diagnostic.

Mine did the same thing at about the same milage. Service engine soon light came on and rpm's would not go above 3500. Made it home called infiniti assistance, checked the oil while waiting for the tow truck. Dipstick was reading way low. Added a quart of oil, restarted and the light went off and performance returned to normal. New car engines stretch, so check your oil the first month or two on a reg. basis. The service dept. knows this but will play dumb for some reason, at least my dealership did. Probrably a saftey feature in the engine to keep you from blowing it when the engines low.
