hard to believe lexus is leaps and bounds better than infiniti, seeing as it's virtually the same quality standards, engineers and employees hoping back and forth between each corporation in japan.

then again everything was made better 10 years ago.

I have the same exact problem, in the same exact spot and I dont even wear rings on my left hand. There is a patch about the size of a dime that has peeled off. Like BB, it annoys the $hit out of me everytime I look at it. I havent talked to the dealer about it yet, but I am going to the next time I am there. When the stitching on leather wrapped steering wheel of a previous Jetta was fraying the VW dealer replaced the entire wheel.

I think the paint coating on the flat black parts of the steering wheel are just really bad quality, and I think it might even have something to do with age. I have an 08 G37 Coupe and never had any issues until the past year. I don't wear any rings or watches ever and I am the only person that drives my car and I have several scratches just like this photo on my steering wheel now. It must be from occasionally knicking it with my finger nails (which I keep short as most males do) so given all of that... yes its a really poor quality finish. I haven't had trouble with any other parts of the car.

Mine had some scratches already and was one of my negotiating points when we were talking about price. I'm gonna see if I can get a new steering wheel along with the door handle trim that's all scratched to hell.

My steering wheel was replaced and is the same one shipping with 2010's, 2011's. They use a different plastic now. There is no longer any coating, just black plastic.

Yes, where can I get those? And is the steering wheel replacements a COVER? Or do you completely replace the stock panels?

They also did the same with the doors on the sedan. They had the same coating **** on the steering wheel that scratched off in the 08 and 09s.

I complained via email to Infiniti Consumer Affairs and they told me to take it to the dealership and have it replaced no problem. The dealership (Tyson's Corner in VA) said no problem and ordered me a new steering wheel and automatic shift **** that was peeling on the aluminum. I'm very pleased

thats awesome to hear. This is one of the things ive been nervous about because when i went shoppipng for my G, pretty much any and all used ones that i saw in NYC had those scratches in those exact spots as if someone with long *** nails had been playing with the controls for years.
