2 Questions!!!

Hello all,

1) Has anyone had any issues with nicks/chips on their G37 grills? I just discovered one recently, after 7 months of driving, and mainly highway. The ironic part is that I owned my previous G35 coupe for a longer period of time, and I never had a single nick on the grill. Just want to have a feel of how everyone's grill is holding out there, as I am aware that the sedan grills were being replaced under warranty for this issue.

2) Does anyone have any minor nicks/chips on their sport package brake calipers? I created a thread recently about this, because I took my car to the dealer for the very first tire re-balancing, and I ended up with 3 of the 4 calipers having minor chips. It bothered me, and I brought it up to them, to which they explained that it happens regularly from driving - very doubtful because I wash my car weekly and I had never noticed them until after they worked on the car. To make the matter worse, the chips are only on sharp corners of the calipers - what are the chances that "debris" could get caught up inside the wheels and chip 3 of the calipers exactly on corners and nowhere else?!? Now let's complicate things a little more. They suggested to have their paint specialist touch them up, but I decided to have them left alone. Why? Because they told me to just wait a little longer and observe them, and that I would see more chips coming up the more I drove the car. Guess what fellas?!? No new ones so far! The reason for this question is to see if anyone truly has any genuine chips on their calipers. It's upsetting that the dealer puts more wear and tear on a car in an hour than I have in 7 months - specially when they charge money for the sports package.

All feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I have about 4k on my car and have zero chips on the grille and calipers. Sounds like the dealership may have chipped the calipers.

1) I do have a few spots on the grill where the chrome chipped off. I don't know if it's just been slowly degrading over time, or if this one incident caused most of it (basically I drove through a sand storm). THat's pretty normal. I don't care much since I plan on painting the grill anyway.

2) Haven't really checked the brake calipers...if there was something noticeable I think I'd know, so I have to say no. I'll report back when I check later.

2) nope i have no chips or knicks on the calipers, they probably did it taking off the rims/tires if you didn't notice them there before

Thanks for the feedback fellas...I'm 99.9% sure they did it themselves, but they want to touch them up with paint. I think it's very unfair they charge for the sports package and screw it up themselves. I may have to take this up with Infiniti Consumer Services. Again, they are minor chips which from a distance can't be seen, but definitely noticeable once you get closer.

The sad part is that I requested the tech that worked on the car. He's a great guy and very knowledgeable (actually one of the few master techs in FL with about 15 years of experience). He claims he didn't do it, however, the wheels had never been taken off since I purchased the car. This was the 7500 mile service where they actually rebalance the wheels/tires.

I will wait to see what other results other people have seen. Hopefully I can get over this or have Infiniti resolve it since I wouldn't have put those nicks on there to begin with. The grill does sound normal since we constantly have debris/particles hitting the front of the car.

The calipers chip easily, I chipped one taking off a wheel.
If they are the only ones that have removed the wheels, I'd say it's likely they did it.

Thanks...I don't understand how they could overlook something like this...specially that these are parts that show and everyone is looking at. The brakes are one of the greatest highlights on this car...
