ventilator question

Was driving today in the cold winter weather, and I noticed that there was no air flow coming from the central ventilators (the ones to the right of the driver and left of the passenger) even though the other ventilators and defrosters were blowing out warm hair.

I checked to make sure they were in the on position, still nothing. What am I missing here?? I checked the manual, and it says you can adjust which vents the heat comes from, but it mentions nothing about operating the side and centre ventilators separately. If one is on, shouldn't the others be on as well?

Thanks.

i could be wrong, but i think it's because you had your defroster on.

It would seem that if you have the defrost on then nothing should come from those vents. Perhaps the flow from the side vents were not coming from the side vents at all but from the defrost vents just above the side vents(?)

When you chose a different mode (for flow to come from the top vents) did heat come out?

I'll have to recheck on the way home from work today, but I swear I remember both the defrosters being on as well as the side vents. On the side, there is one vent on the A pillar, and one on the dash just to the side of the instrument cluster. I put my hand on them while blocking the other, and I'm pretty sure there was air coming from them individually. The car is like a month old....I hope I'm not having my first "problem". Again, I'll have to check on my way home today. Bahh.....

Actually, I just thought of something. Are both vents on the A pillar side considered "defrosters" for the side window? In that case, it could be that when they're on, the centre vents are not. I've always thought the vent just below the A pillar was for me, not the window hahah.

i just did an experiment. When the defrost is on a slight flow still comes out of the side vents. It could simply be because it splits from the same duct as the defrost in the A-Pillar. With that said I don't think that it is anythig to worry about.
