Long story short. Settled out of court under lemon law. Got a G35 
few years later I'm sitting in a 37.

The only issues I have had with mine is the infamous muffler rattle which was replaced under warranty, battery died twice and blew out th passanger ballast - the dealer replaced the ballast the first time but didnt do it the second time since my headlights were painted, but other than these two things there have not been any problems and I drive it pretty hard too.

I also switched to a G35 at that point and now I'm in a G37-S. I had very few mechanical issues with the G35 in 90K miles and no issues so far with the G37 (and zero oil consumption on both). Plus the Z cars I've owned in the past have been very reliable.

I have 2 Nissans and 2 Infinitis with no major problems on any of them:
1995 200SX SE-R owned since it had 7 miles currently at about 220-230k miles (odometer stopped working somewhere around 140k miles). The thing is modified to hell and most of my problems are associated with the modifications (warning to those thinking of modifying your cars any further than a simple intake and maybe exhaust) The only "real" problems were a TSB for an EGR which they originally put too-small of a tube in so the car wouldn't pass emissions. Simple quick fix and no cost. Another issue I had was the TPS (throttle position sensor) which was causing a stumbling. Again, simple fix with no cost. Alternator went around 110k miles. A little early but whatever. Sunroof refused to open sometime in the first 30k miles and the dealer took care of it promptly. Other than that, it was all stuff that was caused by a modification (ie 3 cracked radiators in 1 year because of solid motor mounts - I replaced them after I realized the cause)
2002 Maxima SE owned since 40k miles and it currently has 165k. There's the typical problem of the VIAS (switchover solenoid for the VVEL type cam ****) which I never got the dealer to acknowledge and have never taken the time to try to self-diagnose. Gas mileage is on the low side because I need to look into replacing the fuel filter but it's in the gas tank below the back seat. The thing eats oil if you let it go much beyond 3000 miles (like it somehow knows when it's due for an oil change). The brakes have a common problem with "warping" but aftermarket pads and rotors have extended the life from 10-15k miles up to 25-30k miles. Beyond that, all typical old-age types of problems and my wife beats the **** out of the car
2008 FX45. Only problem so far was a cracked windshield! That and the remote start didn't work last week when it was 8 degrees outside. Even when I went out to manually start it, it gave me a hard time. I guess it was just THAT cold

We have the problem with the exhaust and the TPMS light flashing for a minute and then going steady. The car's in winter hibernation now until the snow, ice, and salt is cleared from the roads. Be it January where we get a brief break or May when it totally finally clears up, it'll make it's way down to the dealer.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nissan/Infiniti. As I was typing some of the problems, they might seem major but you'll encounter problems with any brand. Some more than others. I agree with what others have said. Probably 30% of the people I've talked to who own Audi/VW absolutely LOVE their cars and their experience. The other 70% tell what a POS the car is and how they'll NEVER buy one again because of reliability.
