I really want a manual, but never really driven stick. Should I do it?? I dont want to wreck the tranny by learning how to drive on it

Also, cant find IP with black interior--is that a special order or something?

(oh yeah--currently drive 07 g35 a/t. Thinking of going with 08 or 09 g37...)

 

i got the 6mt, even if i didnt know how to drive one. well i did, but i couldnt really drive it to save my life. after a year or so, i could tell you i could drive one well but not race car drivers well.

you wont ruin your tranny but be prepare to smell the burning of the clutch.

ip/black is probably a popular option so people are buying them left and right. just look around in your region then go out and get it.

Yes get the manual. When I got this car I didnt know how to drive manual either. I test drove this car and stalled it at every intersection, atleast once. I then drove it home in the same way.

Just do it.

 

I'm def considering it, getting tired of the a/t. The lease is up on my 07 in 5 months so I'm weighing out my options....Boy, am I gonna look like a fool test driving it

 

i got a few IP/Graphite 6mt's in stock... it' snot hard to find... not many dealers order 6mt's to begin with

 

get the 6MT for sure... you will regret getting a 5AT...especially if you're thinking about getting the 6MT, i don't think you'll ruin the tranny, but you will put more wear on the clutch and burn it out quicker... but it's easily replaceable

I say test drive the auto, if you like it get the manual. This way you wont need to stress about burning the dealers clutch up. Or...go to a local garage and spend 600 bucks on a 200,000 mile beat up stick. Than you can learn on that and be fine with the test drive and know if you really want it.

 

6 MT FTW, the couple times I had to drive the 5AT on the loaner infiniti gave me I was soooooo bored with it and couldn't wait to get my 6MT back, it's not even close IMO, 5 AT. Some say 6MT is a PITA in traffic etc., me I say that 5AT is dead boring to drive in or outta traffic.

WIth 6MT you control what gear you are in when u brake and go into and out of a turn, u don't have to wait for the 5AT to decide what gear it thinks you should be in.

WIth 6MT you have total control over your car, that is if you know how to drive one, LOL. It's easy you will learn in short time, don't sweat it, go with the 6MT, you will not regret it.

 

A manual transmission will take anything a noob can throw at it, usually manual transmissions outlive most of the rest of the car, but you might get a little clutch burnage.

 

Get the 6MT. I got my 6mt in august and I only practiced on my friends truck for a couple hours a month before. When I went to pick my G up I couldn't drive it home, I staled in the parking lot and stalled at every light. Then I stalled at a light on a hill and couldn't start out. So I called a guy at the dealership to take the car back to the lot for me and they came to pick it up and gave me a few practices on how to use the clutch. I could drive the truck easily but the clutch on the g37 was different from what I learned. I would definitaly without a doubt get the 6MT. You will stall out and burn your clutch tho. I would get a cheap manual beater to practice for like 2-3 weeks then get your G, IMO. But GL.

 

Do they all have pin-stripes, and front plate holes like the one I got. LOL jk.

Defn get the 6MT, I learned how to drive stick on my car, and I did not burn the clutch at all when I was learning. I have burnt the clutch a couple time now though, mainly on steep hills, where I have trouble scraping. You shouldnt have that problem unless you are lowered.

 

Get the MT. I learned to drive stick on a brand new 2003 Cobra, and it wasn't too bad, and that clutch and shifter were heavy and awkward as ****. Learning in this car should be a breeze, I really love the shifter.

If you even think you want a MT and get the AT instead, it will only be a matter of time before you are telling your friends "ugh I wish I woulda just got the MT."
