DIY: Airbag sticker mod

Tired of those ugly Airbag stickers on your visor? Here's an easy and cheap mod to fix that and personalize your car at the same time.

What you need.
  • Silver polyester self adhesive paper. You can get 5 sheets shipped for $14.
  • Laser printer
  • Computer with Software like Word or Publisher.
The Silver polyester paper is nice and has a Washi look to it but it is a bit too glossy for my taste.. I'm still keeping my eye out for better but this will do for now.

Both of these programs can be set to WYSIWYG and centimeter measurements. I made my first one exactly the same size as the aribag lable but in hind sight I'd recommend making them at least a .5 cm bigger all around which would make your needed measurement 15.5x9cm. I start by making a text box with these measurements which then serves as your cut lines. Then paste, size and add your design within the box. Once you've done one box you can copy from the original to start the other. Print to normal paper to be sure you have a good template then print on the label, peel and apply..Done. Another nice thing about this mod is you can easily peel the sticker off to reposition or remove if you have an update.

Here's what I went with for a design.

Very nice mod. I like both the passenger and driver side ones.

Very kewl. I like that you still left the warning on there. You know for safety reasons and all that.

Typo! Double-spacing after a period has been obsolete since the invention of the electric typewriter, or more widely-accepted, the word processor on a computer circa mid 1990s.

But in your case, it looks more like quadruple spacing...

It's too bad they don't make label sheets that would fit this, we need 3.5"x6" lables which don't appear to exist. Also I've not seen any off-white/tope non-gloss adhesive label paper. There is a true cream but it's too brown. The next best would be matte white which even comes in vinyl and would be waterproof as the original and it's inkjet compatible so you could use colors.

Not interested in doing custom work on this, don't have the time... besides this is bonding time for you and your car and a mod anyone could do. Put that special message in there for you wife, girlfriend or date.
