Japan's third-biggest automaker will slash output by 28,000 units, mostly Infiniti luxury models, at its factory in Tochigi, north of Tokyo, Nissan spokeswoman Ikue Matsuura said. The production cut would last five months starting from November, she said.

How do you know this? The Tochigi plant produces the FM platform vehicles, including the FX, EX, M and Nissan Z's, in addition to G's. EX sales are down, so it makes sense to reduce production. The FX is new, so production is reduced until the new model is producable error-free, and FX sales are down. The M will be redesigned next year, so a production reduction will allow more efficient production of the redesigned M. The Z coupe is new and production is slowed to make sure the new car's quality is equal to the old. Some of the reduction is attributed to the world recession, plus these vehicles are not exactly fuel efficient in a time of high gas prices. But, part is normal, dealing with model production changes. And, the bread and butter car is the G (sedan and coupe), so you may not see fewer G's on the road.

I think I understood that. My point was that you, and myk1013, seem to jump to the conclusion that coupe sales are depressed and coupe manufacturing will be cut back. However, there doesn't seem to be any factual basis for your assumptions, and the conclusion you two jumped to may, in fact, not be correct.

Right, but I don't think we said anything about any decrease in sales. We just speculated that there may be less Gs on the road since Gs might very well be part of the cutback. Anyway, I wish more detailed were released like how many vehicle from which model and why, but I'm sure that won't happen
