I now officially hate raccoons, front valance damage question.
That’s right I have hit a raccoon!!! the little bastard ran out in front of me and i wasn't able to avoid him, and hit the thing right in the middle of the front valance. Pushed in the plastic at looked terrible. to make things worse the thing ran off (i didn't even kill it) It happened right before I had to leave for Hawaii for my honeymoon so I left it like that for a week… didn’t take any pics of the before, I pulled it back out but you can still see a bit of damage and the insert is damaged. Can’t tell from a distance but it isn’t perfect anymore.
What do you think should I bring it into the dealer and pay my $500 insurance deductible or buy a new front valance and have it painted to match???

Get a quote and see if it's worth going through insurance or just pay out of pocket for it. I would get it fixed. You still have to drive the thing and it will look bad if it's not lined up right.

I will post pics when I get home from work... it doesn't look nearly as bad now but like i said it isn't perfect... I didn't even know there was damage until my wifes brother asked what happened while i was in the middle of our wedding rehearsal... talk about bad freakin timing.

i know how ya feel. Hit 2 at the same time last year in my rx8, didnt really mess it up that much, was able to fix it more or less. Little bastards were almost off the road and then they darted back the other way. /grrrrr
Hope the damage isnt to0 much.

When I saw the damage I felt like someone did serious harm to immediate family. I felt so violated!!! I wish I would have taken a pic before I pulled it out... OMG it didn't look good. I can't believe that raccoon continued across the street, He was a big sucker, he must have had a hell of a headache i was going about 40mph!!! I'm all self conscience that someone will notice that the valance isn't perfect.

man I hit one of those when I had my G35. Driving 60-70 ish MPH around Pentagon on Route 66. Took out the front bumper, radiator support, shattered my radiator fan assembly which the blade cut through the raditor. Total nightmare..... I did kill that SOB because my friend was driving right behind me and it ended up on his windshield and blood splashed all over his white RSX. Total estimate i think was over $2500.... My insurance covered everything so I was okay..

your going to have to pay a deductable..... your premium should not go up.... Just tell your agent what happened. Now if your damage is less than your deductable you should not report it and just get the repairs done with your money.
