A/C Compressor Noise/Vibrations

I haven't seen a lot of threads regarding the loud A/C problem but it's starting to get on my nerves on those rare ocassions that I don't have the radio on.

It seems like when I'm sitting at a light the compressor vibrates significantly and when I'm accelerating there is also a bad noise. Anyone who notices this too, have you taken your car to the dealer and had the problem fixed? I'm not all to eager to take it to my dealer without some idea of what's going on as I'm sure there excuse will be something along the lines of "am I using Premium fuel..."

If you have had this problem fixed, do you have the service sheet from Infiniti stating what they did or what the replaced? Thanks for the info.

Note, this only happens when the A/C is on, not when the fan is.

TSB on dash noise?

there is a TSB (see infinitihelp.com knowledgebase) on dash noise from heater cores that can be plugged with excess silicone sealant. Perhaps there is a relationship of your A/C to this?

I've taken my car in complaining of the loud compressor noise, when they had the car they said they weren't able to replicate the noise. So they weren't able to fix the problem. Oddly they turn the A/C up as much as possible, but i seem to notice it when the auto temp is around 78-76 or so.
Sorry, but let us know if the mechanics are able to diagnose the problem.

I have the same problem. I just noticed it on Tuesday 9/30/08. It does not happen all the time. But that noise is annoying, and it makes my car sound like a old piece of junk.

At times I will come to a stop, and feel a small vibration go throughout the car. Almost like it gets chills. I am wondering if that is part of that?

I have to take my car in for for 15,000 miles soon. Hopefully the noise comes out on my way there.

My A/C is always on 60, if you turn the A/C off the problem goes away so it has to be the compressor. Should be easy to duplicate sometimes it worse than others but its a persistent sound.

I have an 07 sedan but I had this same issue. Took it to the dealer and they replaced my compressor. make sure you tell them the fan speed needs to be low and the car needs to be sitting still. The new one is quieter, but still makes a little noise. They will take care of it if they can replicate it.

Same problem here. It happened all the time when drove about 1hour. when I was going to dealer for 15000miles service yesterday. Set temp 60 with low fan, drove about 1 hour. but compressor did not make any noise at that time so they could't find this problem. It makes me crazy. I will go to dealer first and make an appointment when sound comes again. I think that's best way to explain this problem.

I'm afraid that's what is going to happen when I take mine in.

Mine is also very noisy. Its definetly the compressor, when I turn the AC off it is dead quiet. Have had several loaners and they were just as loud.

It shouldn't be like that, though. I doubt they care about loaners but something is not correct. It wasn't doing it until a few thousand miles ago. Some odd reason my CEL came on today so I guess I'll be by the dealer sooner than I expected.

I finally heard one of my clients cars like that. Mine doesn't have any issues so at least I know it's there. makes it sound like a diesel when you apply the gas w/ the a/c on and hear that whistle and whine

I believe the reason it occurs is lack of oil in the compressor. That, or perhaps there is a bearing in our compressors that is prone to failure.

Would the TSB, in this thread, be for this problem that we are having?

https://www.myg37.com/forums/tsb-technical-bulletins/181831-itb08-028-noise-from-bank-2-vvel-actuator.html

I am going soon for my 15,000 mile service. I would like for this to be taken care of then.

This is a separate issue of ticking, not A/C vibrations. This sound can be heard mostly when the hood is opened and is very consistent. A/C noise I am describing is only noticeable when the A/C is "ON" and often its a random noise.
