Rear-ended...
Just sharing my story and pics as a possitive way to vent my frustration...
happened along eastbound I-80 this morning on the way to work. heavy traffic, travelling at about 65MPH when the guy in front of me decided now was a good time to brake-check everyone behind him... i succeeded, the two cars behind me did not.
slowed down, hard, to near 30, when i look in my rearview to see an F250's imposing grill take a late nose-dive, then POW! my coffee's all over my dash. the actual crash speed couldn't have been much more than 10 to 15 MPH relative, so i'm fine, but the G's rear end needs some TLC. i feel bad for car #3.. her toyota celica was no match for the F250's tow hitch.
i was in Manual mode gear 5 (M5) when this happened. when i finally pulled over to park, the gear shift was kinda stuck in the downshift possition from the force of the impact. now, i can tell that upshifting feels the same as always, but downshifting, the shifter feels like it rubs or catches just a little bit.. enough for it to feel "different" than upshifting. not sure what i should do here, just show the adjuster?
anyways, because everyone loves to see damage, on to the pics!
these first two show the damage to the rear bumper.
this shows an almost imperceptible tweaking of the trunk lid. you can tell from the shadow. i really really hope the trunk lid is tweaked and not the rear frame. :-/
this last one is the behemoth that invaded my car's personal space.
sorry guys, my nerves were a little too shaken up to get a pic of the celica... wish i did, it was toast.
i have a little bit of good news to go along.. my 6000K HID capsules came in today! hooray!! though i will wait until the car is totally fixed to install them.. kinda like a welcome home present!

Glad you are ok. The G is no match for that truck, but it did stand up pretty well.
Make sure you check body panels all around the car to make sure one didnt bump another, etc. Its usually more a problem with the front bumper, hood, and front quarters, but just make sure you catch everything the first time.
Damage doesnt look too bad so hopefully she will drive the same as before...

Dam bro... Crappy... You might have to replace the bumper and most likely the trunk lid too... Have the F250's owner pay... Afterall he did rearend you... Don't be a nice guy when it comes to stuff like this...
Oh yea, Sport Brakes FTW as far as front end damage goes (because there wasn't any)...
But Sport Brakes FTL as far as rear-end damage goes (In your case, they work TOO GOOD sometimes. and you end up getting rear-ended for it)

well the F250 was a work truck, so a police report was filed. it'll be b/w my insurance and that company's insurance. i'm not too worried.
the guy driving the truck said, "dude, you have an awesome car, i feel bad!"

Feel your pain, as I have been there before. From what it appears he hit you square dead-on and that is a good thing. Those glancing or corner hits are always worse on the vehicle. You should be up and running with a new bumper and a trunk.
