Conversation with a stranger at a stop light . . . . .

So I recently rebadged my rear with the 370GT and S K Y L I N E.
This morning, on my way home from work at a stop light, this middle aged caucasian dude pulled up next to me on my passenger side. He rolled down his windows and waved for my attention This was our conversation.

Caucasian dude: "Who makes those?"
Me: "Infiniti"
CD: "Ohh, is that the 37?",
Me: "Yeah"
CD: "Oh, I've never seen a Skyline before", "Is it a special edition?"
Me: "No, it's just the sport trim"
CD: "Ohh, is it faster?"
Me: "Nah"
CD: "Just prettier?"
Me: "something like that"
CD: "Nice ride"
Me: "Thank you"

I wasn't in the mood of explaining to him the whole Skyline thing. LOL!
Just thought I'd share.

Happened to me when I had my 350GT on my 35.

I never understood the whole Skyline rebadge if you aren't going to do an entire rebadge.

I was thinking...

If a brand new vehicle like the G37 first came out, why not give it a name that will have people scratching their heads? For example, a new model not many people know is released (August of 07 - G37 lets say), rebadge it to Nissan Titan Coupe.

Can you imagine the salesperson? "Yes, I'm here to test drive the New 2008 Nissan Titan Coupe 6MT, Please."

I was willing to explain it, but we were at a stop light so I didn't bother.

Doing an entire rebadge is a lil' too extreme for me. Might as well put the steering wheel on the right hand side too.

I guess I just don't understand JDM rebadging... Sure the japanese version is the Skyline 370GT and there are only subtle differences (a major one being RHD), but you have an Infiniti G37.

If I didn't know and asked someone what kind of car it was and got the explanation, I would laughed and drove off.

But whatever... we are all entitled to our own likes, dislikes, and opinions. If you like it badged JDM, by all mean, badge yours JDM.
