Conversation with a stranger at a stop light . . . . .

The reason it doesn't make sense to people (myself included) is that you are trying to make your car seem more "special" than it really is. The whole "but it IS a skyline in Japan" argument doesn't really fly.
How many Infiniti I30's have you ever heard of people rebadging to "NISSAN CEFIRO"? Not many, because honestly, "Cefiro" sounds retarded. How many Sentras are rebadged to say "Nissan SUNNY"? No thanks, who wants to drive a SUNNY?
But given the name Skyline's heritage, almost EXCLUSIVELY due to the prowess of the GT-R, we G35/37 drivers think that by simply swapping a couple pieces of painted plastic on our trunk lids that we are part of a "skyline club" and can fool every common man into believing our car is more powerful or rare or deserving of adoration than it really is. It's an Infiniti G37, plain and simple. If you don't want people to know that, debadge. But don't RE-badge to a car that it just isn't. If a "Skyline" is what you wanted, you should've imported it and been prepared for right-hand drive.

I guess I just don't understand JDM rebadging... Sure the japanese version is the Skyline 370GT and there are only subtle differences (a major one being RHD), but you have an Infiniti G37.
If I didn't know and asked someone what kind of car it was and got the explanation, I would laughed and drove off.
But whatever... we are all entitled to our own likes, dislikes, and opinions. If you like it badged JDM, by all mean, badge yours JDM.

I see a Silver G37s pass me at night, I pursue and catch up to him at a light, hes turning left im going straight. so I pull up next to him
Me: Nice Car
Him: thanks got it last month
Me: Sweet, I got mine 2 months ago
Him: Looks puzzled, hugh?
Me: Ya 2 months ago Hart Infiniti right?
Him: What kind of car is that?
Me: A g37,
Him: really?
Me: ya just like yours just in black
Him: Oh, S?
Me: um ya, later dude (light turns Green)
