Test Drove a g37s

Hey,

Took out a 08 g37S for a test drive today for the first time. I was a little surprised because the interior was soooo quiet .... compared to the g35x I found you could barely hear the exhaust notes from the interior, which I was a little disappointed with. The g35x I found sounds better than the g37s I test drove, given I'm looking for all those sexy exhaust sounds while I'm driving.

Mind you I didn't really get a chance to open it up because traffic was so heavy on the highway so I'm not sure I got a chance to oooze all the sportiness out of it.

Blindspot ..... maybe it was my seating position but I found an annoying blindspot in the rear driver side over your shoulder ..... from where my seat was positioned the seat belt holder is right in my way ..... I had to be really careful there was nothing in my blind spot.

Anyways just though I'd share my test drive experience

I experienced the same thing. My 35 coupe's exhaust was RAW and stock! The 37 has a similiar but more refined tone, that i can barely hear in the cabin. Even in a parking garage its not as loud as id like it to be (mind you im just driving normally!)

The 35 had a sexy loud yet quiet noise..hard to explain but i miss it! maybe an exhaust will fix this

I don't find the exhaust to be quiet at all! lol. At 3500+ rpm's the exhaust just comes alive and is loud enough. i dunno what u guys r talking about?

I also noticed a big difference with the exhaust on my G35 coupe vs the G37.
I think if you had a 35 - you would definitely notice the difference, and it is a lot quieter. My neighbor used to tell me that he knew when I was driving in the neighborhood because he heard the G35 before he saw it, not so when I had the stock G37 exhaust.

I'm alot happier with the sound of the Fast Intentions system.

.
but the reverse cam helps a loooot at night. without it i would be guessing myself because my tints are just way too dark.

i hate that blind spot too. I have almost hit like 4 people because that damn setbelt holder blocks everything.

The blind spots have mostly to do with your mirror settings. Unless you're already max adjusted, try adjusting your side mirrors so that you only just see your car in the mirror when your head is close to the glass on the drivers side (like you're leaning over towards the glass while looking at the mirror). Then adjust your passenger side with about the same amount of lean towards that mirror.

I find that with my mirrors adjusted this way, I have no blind spots, I never *NEED* to look over my shoulder (sometimes I do it anyway just out of habit) to see the cars around me, and I can still lean towards the mirror and see if anything is standing right next to my car in a parking spot or anything.

Another cool thing about this set up is that I can see different stuff in the side mirrors vs. the center mirror. With typical "I see my car all the time" set up, I found I see the same stuff in both mirrors -- wasteful!

OP, your right, the blind spot is hideous, even with my mirrors turned out i still feel the need to break my neck and look. Thanks I had forgotten about that negative...adding it to my rather long list . Yep, most of us that bought this car have replaced the exhaust, figure in about $500-$2000 if it doens't suit you either. Have you looked at the Audi A5 or BMW 335i?
