Baby on the way - go bye-bye coupe?

Hey all, hopefully you can help my with my dilemma. I'm happy to say that by March 09, I will have 2 new babies - one human, one machine. The problem I have is deciding what car to go with since my current G35 coupe lease ends in March. Until we knew about the baby, I was dead set on the G37 coupe. Now, I'm worried that a 4-door is my only option. If you were in my shoes and had to choose, would you go with the coupe, or a 4 door sedan? Anyone have experience in this area? The rational choice would be to go with a minivan, but none of us here is rational, right?

The majority of our baby hauling would probably be done by my wife in the Murano, but I'd love to go on family outings in a sporty car as well. My wife says go with the coupe, but I just feel so selfish. My concern with the G is being able to easily get a newborn in an out of the back seats (have already read the forums about baby seats) and also being able to carry a non-umbrella type stroller (Philandteds, Bugaboo, Stokke) etc. I really don't want to have to take a shower each time I struggle to get the baby in the back and shove a stroller in the trunk. Plus, I'd feel horrible if my baby suffered from shaken-baby-syndrome while driving over potholes (driving around Princeton in the G is brutal). If not the G coupe, what other cars should I be considering, besides the G sedan? Any and all excuses to get a G coupe are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help!

Do you want luxury or sporty? I say go for the new STI, since it's a wagon now.

if i were in your shoes id go with G coupe especially if the wife says " go for it." otherwise i would consider IS250, 3 series sedan non M, V6 camary/accord ( i would start saving for the kids education unless your a baller!)

Congrats on the baby and good luck car shopping.

As long as theres a baby involved... any 4dr sedan would be the better choice than a coupe. 08 EVO/STI/IS-F/09 G37 Sedan 7AT/09 FX/Porsche Cayenne.. FTW!

I'm not sure if they are making any changes to the seats in the '09s but it is a pain to get in and out of the back. Not sure why they did away with the automatic seats but having to pull the seat forward and push a button to pull it forward is probably the last thing you want to do when you got a baby in your arms. Probably better to go with the Sedan, I've seen some nasty accidents and the Coupe rear can get smashed pretty far in ~40mph.

DO not go for the Coupe. You will hate it. When my first child came my wife had a coupe and we sold that car after a month of trying to make it work. I have a hard enough time getting out of the FRONT seat sometimes and the back seat access on this car really sucks. G37 sedan ftw or the M.

If you decide to go with a Sedan... Go with the IS350 or maybe an Infiniti M. Not bashing the G Sedan, I just think there are better sedans on the market now.

My kids are 3 and 5 and I make it work. I probably only have them in my car like a couple times a month, though. Usually we're crusin' in the CX-9...which could accomodate 3 more kiddies! I'd say the frequency is the deciding factor. More than once a week...probably go sedan. Less...go coupe, and don't feel selfish about it. It at least has a backseat. It's not like you're getting a Vette.

I will say that one thing I don't like so much is carrying other adults around. If you do a lot of that, you might be swayed over to the sedan.

The Is350 or 335i Sedan would be my choice, having a baby certainly does change things a bit.

good luck in your decision, and congrats on the baby!
