Infiniti G35/37 life cycle

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get a sense for the typical life cycle of the Infiniti G series of cars (coupes or sedans). The G37 coupe was released in 2008, when would the G39 (or whatever it's called) typically be released? I tried to figure out when the G35 was released but I'm still not sure.

I'm hoping that the life cycle is at least 5 years so that I can buy a 2009 G37 and get it paid off before the next generation.

I apologize if this is on the board somewhere but I did do a search and can't find anything on this.

Thanks.

usually new generations last 4-5 years, and it's not necessarily true that the g39 will be the next model

More than likely the next generation will have smaller displacement and forced induction, like Ford is planning across their entire lineup.

HP and MPG.. Mated with 6-7 speed transmissions, those vehicles will score high in the highway MPG tests while still having good power if someone wants to use it. Even the Mustang GT will be offered in a FI V6 soon..

Infiniti could hold the line on HP for all I care, but make the car faster with weight reduction.. Shed 500lb and the G would be a very fun sports coupe.

There was talk about a baby G to compete with the 135i otherwise the 370Z fits the 500lb shed.

Ahh, but those 500 lbs are where all the luxury oriented stuff that an Infiniti owner demands comes from. The G37 has never been a sports car, its a luxury GT....

There are lighter materials to use in the vehicle construction, but there wasn't a cost/benefit neutral driver before.. With increasing fleet mileage averages in the future, there is going to be a serious driver toward weight reduction. The cross benefit is going to be a more sporty G someday, the only debate is if that is a 2013 model or a 2018 model that delivers it.

I think a hybrid G would really raise interest. I'd love to have similar HP/torque ratings while getting 30+ mpg.

Your power wouldn't compare, and it would cost a ****load more. Hybrids shouldn't exist, they are a disgrace to humanity.
