I'd personally rather skip the Hybrid solution... depending on your driving situation you're running the fuel engine most of the time anyway... I rarely stay in sub 30 mph traffic for long.
Here's the way to go: http://www.teslamotors.com/, hopefully in <10 years the battery tech should drop substantually to make this easily affordable, in production now for $109,000. Electric cars are going to acccelerate like a freaking rocket.
