G37 changes for '09
I read a lot of postings about all the 'changes' to the '09 model. Yes, I agree, I think all except one is really crappy. OK, the AWD option is nice for people in colder areas like me, but I put winter tires on mine last year and had ZERO problems in the snow. I could still comfortably cruise at 50mph+ in the snow. What I do think is a big deal, is the change from 5AT to 7AT. Infiniti's figures seems to indicate that it cuts the 0-60 times from 5.5s to 5.2s. Now that is HUGE if you ask me. Now at least Infiniti's premier sports car can keep up with their big brute of an oversized X-over vehicle, the FX50. I was when I saw the FX50 was quoted at 5.2s on a 0-60mph run. WHAAAAAT??? Infiniti produces a big fat truck that outrunes their premier sports car????? I felt like taking a dump on my Infiniti dealers sales managers desk. Come freakin' on. Imagine the BMW X5 outrunning the M3. I think upgrading the G37 to the 7AT is a step in the right direction, except for it SHOULD BE FASTER OFF THE LINE than the FX50! WTF?

Hey, I'm sort of new to the forums and I'm caught in the middle of the 2008 G37 MT6 Coupe and the 2009 model. I can either get the 2008 model whenever I want or wait a month and a half to get the 2009 G37 MT6 Coupe. The only features that I know of that is tempting to me is the Scratch Guard Coat paint that most of the 2009 Infiniti models have and the AWD for snow in the upstate NY region. I don't know if I should wait it out for an 09 model and if it is worth it. I also found a link to a video demonstration of the Scratch Guard Coat paint.

I have to take exception with calling the FX a truck.
It is no more a "truck" than the G37.
It doesn't look like a truck or handle like a truck.
I've got about 300 track miles on my FX and about 90-100 SCCA autocross runs.
I've taken out Corvettes, Porches, a couple Audi Quattros, and many more.
To categorize the FX as a truck is kind of insulting.
Well, not kind of----------it is-

Conceptually, it would be ideal if the G could outrun it. Just imagine fitting that 5.0L V-8 in a G Coupe.....yum....I bet it'd get passable gas mileage because of the difference in weight too (even if the 8 would add a few hundred libs).

Someone please explain the thought process behind this.
