FWIW, I am 29, and just got the G37.
My first car in 1995 was a 1990 Chevy Beretta GT. In 1997 I got a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. In 2000 I bought a 2000 Chevy S10. In 2001 I got a 2001 Chevy Silverado. In 2004 I bought a 2005 Volvo S40 T5. In 2009 I got the G37.
I do think that ANY car over $15K is too much for a first car because odds are, you are going to crash it. I crashed my Beretta on my 16th Birthday. No joke. I had been driving it to work for 5 months before I turned 16, so luckily it happened on my 16th Birthday when I had my license.
Just my 2 cents.

Also, I have a lot of experience in Finance (my day job) and people, in general, spend WAY too much on cars. I see people who have cars that cost more than they make GROSS in 6 months to a year.. Thats crazy. You are essentially making yourself car poor. People do the same thing with houses too though. Hopefully, this trend will slow down as it will allow people to live with much less money stress.

I bought myself the G37s at 25.
Drove a dodge Neon (winter car now) and a 96 hyunday sonata (first car at 18) before that. Both the sonata and neon I did not have to pay for.
Man a lot of people on here must have rich parents if you re driving a 40K + car in your teen years. Just remember to be thankful for what you have and realize how hard your folks have to work to get you what you want and don't take it for granted.

Try as you might, the first car is probably going to be wrecked, unless you live away from an urban area. No matter how careful you are, dumbsses abound. I drove POS cars for at least 5 years before I got something sporty. Like Ducati I'm 29 and have taken care of my immediate needs (think Mazlow's hierarchy of needs). The G is definately a want. I hope you can appreciate it enough to enjoy it for a long time to come. We'd hate to hear about you losing the G in a freak accident. Just consider that with time comes experience. Good luck!

18 when I got the G35, but 16 when I got my Stang GT vert. Both were modded to the point of almost going FI, but each time I was ready to pull the trigger, I ended up selling it and buying a new car. Maybe 3rd car's a charm with the G37, although I'm not even half-way through modding this car and I'm already highly consider selling it or getting another car.

I was 21 when I got the 07 G35 Coupe in may of 2007..then 22 when I got my 08 G37 in october of 2008..both times were by myself with no help from mommy and daddy..I am 23 now..I should also note how blessed and appreciative I am for the opportunity given to me to do so..
