Paddles or Manual?

Paddles or Manual?
I figure I would go to the "experts" for this question. I am most likely going to get a G37 sport in the next month or so and I am having some trouble deciding between the paddle shifters or the manual. I have driven manuals my whole life and I love them. However, I test drove the paddle shifters and had a lot of fun with them. And, maybe more importantly my wife would like not to have to deal with a manual. I have also heard that the 2007 G manual had some issues with the gear box and clutch (read on edmunds.com), but I hear the 2008s have fixed those issues. Any input would be great. My guess is this all comes down to what I am happiest with, but I thought I would at least ask.
Thanks,

If you want to enjoy driving the car, and want it to be a "sports car", then get the 6MT.
If you really need your wife to drive it, then get the 5AT, but no matter how fun it is it will never be the same as the 6MT.

I think you both would enjoy the 5AT rather than 'another' MT. I can have just as fun in MM, whether will the paddle shifters or DS and then I can just throw it over into D if I just want to relax. I recommend you go with the Auto w/Sport!

Driving the car in sport auto with a properly tuned ECU will yield you better performance than using the paddles.
The paddles are toys. It's not like the 5AT is a true clutchless manual or DSG. If you want to have fun pretend playtime then get the paddles (not to mention the other obvious benefits of auto).
Get the manual if you want the roughness that is inherent with manual and direct control over the power of the car.
Personally, I'm very happy I went with 6MT. No regrets on my part. But you'll be happy either way, I think. You can sweat the tranny topic, but at the end of the day it's a G!! How cool is that?!
I wonder how many flames I'll get for my "paddles are toys" comment.

I second that. Really. If you are even thinking slightly on the AT, you should probably get the auto. Unless you wanan explain yourself your concerns and thoughts. Maybe if you get the 6MT, and after a while, you would be fascinated by it. It all comes down to what you think, not others.

paddles are purely a gimmick in the G. They should not be considered a viable altnernative to an actual manual. If you want the fun and control of a manual, get the manual. you will definitely regret it if you don't. i have the
5AT by the way. I new I wanted an auto, didn't necessarily want the paddles but they came with the sport package.
