What a dimished value claim is is basically me telling the other person's insurance company that my car is not worth as much money as it was prior to the accident. When a car is repaired through an insurance company, the accident appears on CARFAX. Now, anyone that runs my VIN can see that my car was in an accident and does not have the "original" parts and paint, which will lead to a much lower trade in value. I am going to file a dimished value claim because they are going to have to re-paint so much of the car. Basically, I am going to argue with the insurance company and try to get $$$ from them due to the extent of the damage on my car. The $$$ that I get would offset the "hit" (no pun intended) that I take when I go to trade it in or sell it privately.
I did it once before, its A LOT of work and arguing back and forth, but in the end, if I win, its definately worth it. Not many people know this is even an option.

Wow, sorry to hear what happened. Hope it turns out ok.
Most of the time when I see PT cruisers on the road, the drivers are usually aggressive and speeding, however safe/unsafe they might be......

It arrived at the body shop today and when it got there, the shop owner said "eww". Sounds like it is going to be awhile before I get it back, especially when I told them that it needs an AFS headlight.
Stupid PT's!
