LOL...this thread made me smile. I am glad though that your car was still there when you got back to it. I wonder how many people walked by your car and thought, hmm why is this thing running?

I guess I should have put the /sarcasm tag on or something jeez. I'm not saying I'm absent minded enough to leave the car running. Its pretty obvious, muffler sounds, music, BEEP BEEP BEEP, etc. I was being sarcastic about the 6MT thing, although it would definitely screw you over if you tried to let the clutch out and forgot the car was on ( I don't do this... ). I got the 6MT because I love manuals and I love the man and machine connection you get with one.

lol, that hasn't happened to me yet.
greg, i do understand your argument though. when i was more of a noob manual driver, i used to leave the car in neutral, which wouldn't be that hard to walk away from while the engine is on. but now that i leave it in 1st or reverse, there's no way i'd be able to walk away without shutting the car off.

I have no idea my post would generate this much interests. It's kinda comforting, yet a little embarrassing. And as much as I would love to say this will never happen again, I am not so sure...
Honestly, I didn't even hear the engine running when I went back to my car - the parking lot is on a very busy street. Then I saw the gauge: 8.5 mpg, 5.2 mph (I reset after every fill up) - lol
This is my first automatic in about 15 years, and may be this wouldn't happen if I "stick with stick". Oh well.

Post Whore
I sorta did the "opposite" thing... well not me, my mechanic did. He tried to start the car without the fob in the car and the engine immobilizer kicked in! LOL...
